ABOUT TRACY

Tracy and the waterfall

Watercolor artist Tracy Moad was born and raised in Medford, Oregon, a small town in the southern part of the state. She currently resides in Lake Oswego.

Her passion for painting ignited at a young age when she was given a large piece of paper and some finger paints. This love for art blossomed as she progressed through her childhood and into junior high and high school. "My favorite subjects in school were art class and lunch—school was definitely not my favorite place to be! My favorite teacher in middle school was Judy Morris. After her time in public education, she transitioned to teaching workshops. I had the wonderful opportunity to attend one of her workshops early on in my watercolor journey, and it provided the encouragement I needed. I fell in love with painting and never looked back!"

Light, color, and a sense of place are vital elements for Tracy, and she strives to encapsulate these in her landscapes. "I want people to feel a connection to a place, even if they have never actually visited it. My goal is to transport them to somewhere serene and restful, offering a reprieve from the chaotic rhythm of everyday life. I resonate deeply with this quote from Picasso: 'Art washes away from the soul the everyday dust of life.' And indeed, it does."

Over time, her personal style has transformed. "As an artist, I view each painting or sketch as a creative process. Each time I pick up a brush, pencil, or pen to create a new piece, I expand my artistic skills."

Artist Matt LeBlanc aptly states, "We push ourselves to learn more, be more, and experiment more." He also emphasizes, "It is out of making mistakes that the next great thing will come."
